Book Review: Anna Dressed In Blood By Kendare Blake

Name: Anna Dressed In Blood
Author: Kendare Blake
UK publisher: Orchard
UK Release Date: OUT NOW
Summary: Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead. So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay. When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home. And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

Review: Anna dressed in blood. I think the title pretty much says it all. Blood, horror, romance as totally on edge. When I see ghosts in my head they look perfectly real and solid -- like a living human being. They are not misty; I can’t see through them; they don’t wear sheets or bloody mummy bandages. They don’t have their heads tucked under their arms. They just look like ordinary people, in living colour, and sometimes it is hard to tell who is a ghost. There may be ghosts around us that look perfectly human and Kendare Blakes story has just made that even more prominent.

3 words to describe this novel. ORIGINAL, ORIGINAL and ORIGINAL. A ghost hunting teenage boy goes on a hunt to find a ghost in a scary hunted house but ends up falling in love with her instead. Amazing. I always look for exciting books. I've read a lot of YA in the last couple of years and it's always nice to find a novel that blows me away and gets me excited for the next novels from the author.

I loved how much your kept on edge in this book. It's like a will they won't they situation between Cas and Anna through out! It kept me reading, it kept me intrigued and it defiantly kept me up all night. Love, excitement, death. Blood, sweat and tears are only some of the words I can use to describe the brilliance of this book. I never get tired of reading the scenes between these characters! Kendare takes you to a place that challenges your imagination and screams at you through the page.

I loved the scary moments in this story! Bloody walls, slamming cupboards, screaming, knifes and all sorts of gore it was spectacular
I loved every part of this book. I love ghost stories and this is one heck of a ghost story
