Review: Bared to You by Sylvia Day

Note: Due to mature & sexual content, this book is intended for readers 18+
Title: Bared to You (Crossfire #1)
Author: Sylvia Day
Publisher: Penguin Group USA
Date Published: OUT NOW

Summary:
"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness... "
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...
Gideon "knew. "He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds...and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Review: Bared to You kept popping up on my Nook under "Books you might like" (does that say something about my choice in reading? maybe). I read the synopsis and added it to my TBR pile- but when a close blogger friend recommended it, was when I decided it was time to pick up this book. And man, am I glad I did!

Eva, a young lady finding herself amongst the chaos and craziness that is a new life and career in NYC stumbles into a gorgeous man who captures her attention. Little does she know he's one of the most coveted people in NYC

But, the one thing I do know and loved about this book was that it wasn't an immediate "yes I've fallen in love with you" reaction that Eva had. Real life doesn't always work that way- so I thought that this really gave it a good realistic value to the book. Eva is a very strong character; and sticks up for herself when she needs to-and in the beginning when Gideon first approaches her I wanted to fist pump for Eva's reaction. There was a never a time where I thought she was the Damsel in distress and I really admired her for that. Women are usually written as weak or as someone who is tough as nails and I think Eva is the latter; it's a suiting personality that has developed from the secretive past she's had to cover up.

Gideon on the other hand is just... SWOON worthy! But there's also a part of him that is mysterious & of course what can i say... we all love a little mystery yes? Keeps up intrigued and interested. I didn't always agree with Gideon but that doesn't mean to say I agreed with Eva either. The way they would both handle a minor fight would frustrate me- but the reunion of the two would always end in fireworks ;)

This book has a great plot. There weren't a ton of exaggerated events and I enjoyed the subtleties that came and gone. Bared to You is steamy, sexy, titillating and intriguing! Do I think it's for everyone? No. If you enjoy romance and erotica then this book is a must read, but it is also turning into a great love story, and who doesn't like those? 18+ due to the themes and sexual content.

I am definitely looking forward to continuing on with the thrilling romance of Eva and Gideon with the next book in the series called Reflected in You...

Be on the look out for the next book in The Crossfire Series: Reflected in You which is out Fall 2012

I dont know what made me think that this was going to be a very intense love story and yet it was not very bad either.....an okay read I guess!

A love story can be intense enough without having ridiculous and almost funny sex scenes and this book is filled with such stuff ! All the sex gets REAllY boring after a while......

This was my first erotica book ever. (I did read about 100 pages of FSOG before putting it away!!! Now that's easily the worst book ever written!!)

Sylvia Day has taken the basic premise of FSOG and replaced the AWFUL, AWFUL and UTTERLY AWFUL Anna character with someone better. I liked Eva but I could not manage to like Gideon. He is kiddish, immature and definitely suffers from a serious case of OCD ! Whatever he feels for Eva is anything but love! The word for it would be OBSESSION !!!! Such guys are best avoided and I am saying this from personal experience. And don't even get me started on how his looks are described in the book.......

The one plus point of the book is that you do want to know what happens with Eva and Gideon in the second book !!!
