Book Review: Operation Sunshine By Jenny Colgan

Name: Operation Sunshine
Author: Jenny Colgan
Publisher: Sphere

Summary: Evie needs a good holiday. Not just because she’s been working all hours in her job, but also because every holiday she has ever been on in her life has involved sunburn, arguments and projectile vomiting – sometimes all three at once. Why can’t she have a normal holiday, like other people seem to have – some sun, sand, sea and (hopefully) sex?

So when her employers invite her to attend a conference with them in the south of France, she can’t believe her luck. It’s certainly going to be the holiday of a lifetime – but not quite in the way Evie imagines!

Review:
I'm a huge fan of Jenny Colgan and yet again she's left me smiling. 'Operation Sunshine' is a breath of fresh air, a real feel good read.

The name of this book makes you assume it's just about sunning yourself, I can tell you now that is not the case at all.
Have you ever had a really rubbish holiday experience?
To be honest mine have all been pretty good bar one family holiday that caused a major family row.

Evie on the other hand has had many bad holiday experiences, and the fact she always gets sun burnt doesn't help.
When she's given the opportunity to go on a work holiday she jumps at it.
But is Evie's head full of sun, sea, sand and sex or does she realise she'll also have to work.

With friends like Lydia who needs enemies.
Lydia is your typical annoying friend who thinks she's better than you.
Whatever you've done, own etc she's done it all one step better and one step more impressive/expensive.
The dashing Tom is just what Evie needs but is she looking in all the wrong places.

Has Evie been looking at the wrong guy all this time.
Should any girl attempt to settle down with a friend?
Or should they hold out for the one?
There are so many twists some very unusual and some really good.
Jenny always manages to create characters you can fall in love with and Evie is so real to life.
Evie is one of these people that strive for what they believe in.
That you can't help but love her.
I really did enjoy this book and with the way it ended there could be a sequel seeing what Evie and Wilf do next.

Found this book in the apartment when we went on holiday last week and have to say I actually really enjoyed it!! I couldn't put it down - just wanted to find out what happened next! Really want to read what Evie and Wilf get up to in their next adventures and really do hope that Jenny writes a part 2 to this amazing book!..:)
