Every girl dreams of the happy ever after that features within the Disney classics.
Each and everyone of us knows the classic fairytale story of Cinderella.

In some ways Cinder is the same in others she's so different.
To start with she's not you're average girl she's a cyborg come mechanic.
She's the best mechanic in New Beijing yet some locals treat her like a leper, but she has a secret that even she doesn't know yet.

This novel explores the hard times of the plague.
Just like Cinderella, Cinder has been adopted, and just like the fairytale the prince is looking to marry.
Just like the Disney classic there is a ball but will Cinder attend?
There are so many twists and unexpected turns, that have you hooked on every sentence of every page.
The sadness and emotion that fills this novel is heartbreaking.
I can't imagine what these families went through during the time of the plague.
Marissa has explained this thoroughly and the sadness empowers you, it's as if you're experiencing the emotion that these families are.

Unlike the fairytale Cinder's sisters are not ugly.
Cinder has a strained relationship with Pearl but the sisterly love between her and Peony is fun, beautiful and heartbreaking.
Peony is a naïve young girl who wants the fairytale and enjoys dreaming.

The tension between Kai and Cinder is empowering.
I can feel myself screaming at her go to the ball with him for gods sake woman.
There are certain twists and dramatic turns that as a reader you will never be ready for.
I wholeheartedly loved this novel.
Cinder is the heroine that every girl wants to be.
She's very naïve but underneath she has the strength to fight against evil.

What I loved and hated about this book is that many of the characters had you on edge.
As a reader you're left unsure of who to trust, but a few of them have you feeling completely different towards them.
I'll let you work that out yourself.

Just like me you'll be praying that Prince Kai just sees sense and runs off with Cinder.
But not all fairytale's have a happy ending.
