What do you think a world without books would be like?

Dear Readers,

So one of the Blood Ink Fire challenges is to write about what I think a world without books would be like, which is a difficult topic to have to think about but in my opinion would look something like this (and you will have to scroll a bit for the rest of this post):

BLANK....

If there was a world without books, this blog wouldn't be here, I wouldn't be in my current job, or the one before that or the one before that. My room would be practically empty, and I wouldn't have had the experience I have had or be the person I am today.

I think a world without books would take away from the escapism, the imagination and the creativity that reading brings to the word, and it would be a whole other bucket of 50 Shades (indeed I wouldn't even be able to make that pun) because so much is fed off and comes from literature.

That's not to say that the world would suddenly stop (well in some of our worlds maybe) or that they would be no creativity, because I think the mind would prevail, imagination would prevail, it would just change the way that we are able to voice and express it, and society would be expressed in a different way, as we've seen across dystopian novels. And in Blood Ink Fire there was a strange concept of not being able to read the words...and I'm like ..... (that's not an intentional or indeed a massive spoiler, its more a bye the bye if there are no books ya know)

I don't think I will ever (thankfully) see a time where this could happen and I don't think I would want to because there is that whole element of knowing what you have and appreciating it so much more when its gone, that I couldn't imagine not reading. And that's why everything would be blank for me...and wordlesss!

To smell,, touch, open, read and live in a book is a beautiful thing so #KeepBooksAlive

This is perfect. I completely agree with everything that you said and I don't think you missed a single thing. Like you, I wouldn't be who I am, my room would be empty, I wouldn't be able to blog anymore.. Absolute terror.

I don't even want to think about books not being here. This post just sums it up perfectly. The last line is just perfect
