BOOK REVIEW: Anna and the French kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Name: Anna And The French Kiss
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Publisher: Usborne
Summary: Anna had everything figured out – she was about to start senior year with her best friend, she had a great weekend job and her huge work crush looked as if it might finally be going somewhere... Until her dad decides to send her 4383 miles away to Paris.
But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna finds herself making new friends, including Étienne, the smart, beautiful boy from the floor above. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with the French kiss Anna's been waiting for?

Review: Anna And The French Kiss has all the makings to be a very cheesy, girly book, a girl shipped of to boarding school in Paris leaving behind a (in my opinion) super hot crush, where she meets a perfect, well not so perfect because he's in a relationship, guy who shows her not only the beauty of Paris but the beauty of love. Yeah sounds like every girls dream but really cheesy , however the brilliant Stephanie Perkins makes this story completely believable, subtle, truthful, light hearted and touching in effortless and beautiful story that not only takes you in a journey of discovering love but discovering yourself.

Anna And The French Kiss gave me the overwhelming desire to pack up and move to Paris but it also gave me one of my favorite male characters Ètienne St.Clair, he's deep, funny, smooth, troubled and well hot, and can make you sigh, squeal, ohhhhh and awwwww more then a girl at a one direction concert. But despite all of his perfection St.Clair still manages to come across as a totally genuine and believable character, although through most of the book I didn't no whether I wanted to hug him, kiss him or shake some sense into him.

And of course Anna And The French Kiss would be nothing with out Anna. She's our narrator and takes us around Paris with us on her journey, when she's not watching films to review for her blog. And as cliche as it may be you can't help but relate to at lest one side of her, be it her relationship with her parents or siblings, struggles with friends, trouble with love or just trying to find her place, Anna is just a character you can't help but rout for.

Anna has a great new group of friends and I can guaranty that we all no at least one of them, whether it's a fierce Rashmi or a charming joker Dave we've all known them at some point or another, and it makes the group seem more personable and relatable. Now I admit through most of the book I was dreaming about having my own St.Clair to give me poetry books, take me strolling along the streets of Paris, and make me wish on stars (que dreamy sigh), but there were some parts of the book that touched on some more sensitive topics, from Anna's complicated dynamics of friendship and betrayals, to St.Clairs troubles at home were truly heartbreaking to read about the characters flinging through, but sadly at issues that a lot of us have to face and left me routing for them that much more.

With it's witty dialogue , stunning settings and loveable characters Anna And The French Kiss is an addictive read and an instant favourite, that is a breath of fresh air in contemporary YA and left me screaming that it had to end. Like St.Clair...Anna And The French Kiss is all around perfection.
