Book Review: Teardrop By Lauren Kate

Name: Teardrop
Author: Lauren Kate
Publisher: Double Day/ Random House

Summary: Never, ever cry... Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?

Review: Firstly, this review should have been finished and posted ages ago. But I have been racking my brain with how to do it justice. Which is exactly what I said to Lauren Kate herself when I attended the Bluewater signing. I can safely say that as soon as I know when I can get a copy of the next instalment, I will be well and truly booking a well needed and deserved day off work. Now I know that sounds rather dramatic but this book will tug so many different emotions that you'll need time to process it without any interruptions.
When I first started reading Teardrop I was thinking OMG! what a weirdo stalker in regards to Ander. However, when the story continues you cannot help but fall in love with the seed-bearer. There is just something mysterious about him, and when you realise just how much he cares for Eureka deep down you cannot help but sigh and fall in love. There are sooo many twists in connection to a number of the characters, things you would never guess and I WILL not be spoiling those twists. As I want you to fully appreciate this novel you have to go in with a clear mind and embrace Eureka and Ander's strange yet beautiful story.

I quite quickly became addicted and intrigued by Eureka and Ander's story. It started strangely but as time went on I began to fall in love with both of the main characters. There is dialogue from both sides which gives you an over view of both characters. As Teardrop ends you'll be feeling soooo many emotions and counting down the days until the next book.

These are a few of the pictures of Me and Lauren at Waterstones Bluewater in December 2013.

I cannot thank Lauren enough for the time she gives to her fans and for the awesome stories that she writes. I am hoping to have read The Betrayal Of Natalie Hargrove before Lauren returns to the UK again, as that is the only one of her books I have NOT read. As you can imagine I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the Teardrop trilogy and I know I will be distraught when it ends.
