Book Review: The Secret Of Ella and Micha By Jessica Sorensen

Name: The Secret Of Ella and Micha
Author: Jessica Sorensen

Summary: Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

Review: New adult is a ridiculously new genre and it's not just porn. The Secret Of Ella and Micha is a tale of two best friends. Both of them have issues and both of them have a burning desire for the other yet it takes them a while to realise this. Well saying that it takes Ella much longer than Micha.
Until now I hadn't read any of Jessica Sorensen's novels but I am definitely a fan and I cannot believe I have to wait until like October for the next instalment of this very addictive novel.
Most people think new adult is just porn but it's not this novel has a fantastic story of love, friendship and families but there is also an element of secrets and real-life. I like the fact that Jessica has added some real huge issues to the story.
I truly fell in love with all of the characters in this novel they each had something to give. Without spoilling anything I will say you will think wrongly of a few characters to start with.

What I also really liked was the fact some of the story is in Ella's viewpoint and some in Micha so in parts you get the same entry but from the differing person.
This book will hook you in and you will feel hot, steamy and on the edge of your seat.
Both of these characters are troubled and along the way you find out why...this is a rollercoaster ride worth riding and it's not even that long a read so a fast or avid reader can read this in a few days.

I truly cannot wait to get back into Ella and Micha's story but hey all good things come to those who wait.

Book Review: While It Lasts By Abbi Glines

Author: Abbi Glines
UK Publishers: Simon and Schuster
Summary: Maybe driving home after a few (or more) shots of tequila had been a bad idea, but hell, he did it all the time. The cops had to have been freaking bored to have pulled him over. He wasn’t even swerving! That’s Cage York’s story and he’s sticking to it.
Unfortunately, his baseball coach isn’t buying it. Cage has a free ride to the local junior college for baseball -- or he did, until he’d gotten a DUI. Now, Cage has to decide: does he drop out and give up his dream of getting noticed by a college in the SEC, and possibly making it into the Major Leagues -- or does he give in to his coach’s demands and spend his summer baling hay?

Eva Brooks planned out her life step by step when she was eight years old. Not once over the years had she lost sight of her goals. Josh Beasley, her next door neighbor, had been the center of those goals. He’d been her first boyfriend at seven, her first kiss at ten, her first date at fifteen, and her first tragedy at eighteen. The moment she’d received the phone call from Josh’s mother saying he’d been killed along with four other soldiers just north of Baghdad, Eva’s carefully planned life imploded in the worst way possible
.

Cage isn’t real happy with his closet-sized bedroom in the back of a foul smelling barn, or his daily interactions with cows, but he knows that if he doesn’t make his coach happy then he can kiss his scholarship goodbye. Only a sick and twisted man would decide his punishment was to be working on a farm all summer. No hot babes in bikinis waiting to meet a Southern boy to make her vacation complete. Just him and the damned cows.
Oh -- and an uptight, snarky brunette with the biggest blue eyes he’s every seen. But she doesn’t count, because as hard as he’s tried to charm her out of her panties - he’s pretty sure she’d rather see him hung from the rafters than let him get a taste of her pretty little lips

REVIEW: Wow wow wow. Again Abbi has blown me out the park with her epic novel! I mean I don't think I could ever get sick of her books! While it lasts is defiantly one my favourite new adult novels and let me tell you why;

Abbi captures romance so perfectly the slight touch or the slight kiss written in her novel makes you feel all sorts of emotions. She captures a lot of amazing things in her novels but this one in particular got to me! The whole bad boy, forbidden love and turmoil... Always makes an epic novel. It's the classic Romeo and Juliet scenario but with  sexier twists, sun, topless guys and one heck of a love scene.

I loved Cage as a character. His sexy humour and wit really made me enjoy reading him. He is nothing like Abbis other characters and I admire that about her because for me I always worry that an authors sequel or next book in general will have a different character but act the same as the others but I never need to worry about that with Abbi.

I loved Eva! Even though she is going through a horrible tragedy, for me I felt she was still such a strong person and you really empathise with her through Abbis writing it was really amazing to read her thoughts

Let me talk about the romance in this novel... Well HELLO there. Abbi can write the BEST sex scenes on the planet. E.L James needs to watch her back BIG TIME.

Epic novels, epic characters, epic scenes and an epic author! Buy these books guys!!!

Review: God gosh! When I finished Fallen too far I was literally on cloud nine. I found a new adult book and a author I was obsessed with so I was dying for never too far. It was so worth the wait! I've never sat with my kindle at midnight literally waiting for my pre order to come through like a crazy person. This is what Abbis books do to you.

Blaire and Rush are back... But Blaire has a big secret and its about to change her and Rush relationship forever. The plot once again is fantastic in this book Abbi has hit it out the park.

It's a shocker plot but it works If you have read fallen too far and you were thinking what could possibly happen next but honestly you have no idea! I think that Abbi writes Rush's and Blaires scenes so beautiful and dramatically that you literally feel everything the characters are reading! Their scenes keep you on edge. Their just loveable characters. You can see they love each other so much through Abbis writing. I loved every single character in these novels their personalities all shine through and effect the whole book and my emotions.

Abbi writes relationships so well! And especially the men of the book! You always swoon and can't help but be mesmerised by her writing. Once again I love how it changes to different characters point of views. I think Abbi did this so effectively and really made the characters not at all two dimensional. Abbi has created word images so vivid that it is almost like watching one hot and intense movie.

I have almost read everyone one of her novels and I can't help but want to read more and more. I wish she could write like a robot so that I could read them ALL the time!

Blog Tour: Dark Triumph review to follow soon and giveaway.

Dark Triumph the follow-up novel to Grave Mercy is digitally released today.
It will be published in paperback in June.

Robin has kindly written twelve facts about Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph for us...

Fact or Fiction: The Truth in His Fair Assassin

One of the questions I am most often asked is what parts, if any, of the His Fair Assassin books are true or based on history? The answer: Probably more than you’d think. Even more fascinating? Some of the things that strain credulity the most are actually true. Honestly, even the most fervent imagination could not make up some of this stuff. So here are twelve historical facts from both Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph that may surprise you.
Fact or Fiction: The Truth in His Fair Assassin
1. A twelve year old duchess truly did inherit one of the richest kingdoms in medieval Western Europe. Upon the death of her father, Anne was immediately saddled not only with the running of Brittany, but with trying to maintain its independence from France.

2. In an effort to find allies against France, her father the duke of Brittany had promised her hand in marriage to over half a dozen princes, nobles, and heads of state. Most of those promises had been made verbally so he couldn’t be pinned down and prevented from promising her hand in marriage to even more potential allies.
3. One of her most insistent suitors was the fifty year old Count d’Albret, who already had seven children of his own.
4. The duke of Brittany did have a mistress and had a number of illegitimate children with her. From all accounts, his ‘second’ family lived with him in the palace along with his wife and legitimate children. Just one big cozy happy extended family.
5. Of all the guardians and caretakers in whose hands the duke had placed Anne’s safety, nearly all of them betrayed her in some way.
6. In the middle ages, some women greatly preferred the idea of joining a convent, because it would give them more freedom and autonomy than their normal societal roles of wife, mother, or consort.
7. Assassination was a big part of medieval Europe’s political strategy. In the 11th century, Brittany itself was engaged in a number of back and forth assassinations with its neighboring duchy Normandy.
8. Assassination and poisonings were such a common occurrence (or heartily feared one) that many noble family’s had a poisoner on staff.
9. The island on which the convent of Saint Mortain sits is real: the Ile de Sein is located off the westernmost coast of Brittany and was rumored to have been the last remaining refuge of nine Celtic druidesses called the Gallizenae and were said to have mysterious powers.
10. The charbonnerie are also based on a real life organization of charcoal burners. While charcoal burning had been going on since as early as the Bronze Age, the charbonnerie are most widely known as a fraternal organization of charcoalburners that gained prominence during the French Revolution. There is some speculation that their roots were far older than that, possibly going back as far back as the middle ages.
11. The charbonnerie’s worship of the Dark Matrona or Dark Mother. This darker aspect is found of many older goddess and is known as Black Artemis, the Black Dianna, and even the Black Madonna.
12. The early Christian Church did indeed adopt some earlier pagan gods and goddess into its fold, renaming them saints and altering their stories so that they were more in keeping with church traditions. The most well known of these is Saint Brigid.

We will also be able to give away a copy of Grave Mercy the first in the series as well as a digital copy of Dark Triumph. My review will follow real soon. If you would like to win a copy leave a message as to why you should win and your email address in the comment box below.
