DR MAKEUP - LOOKS ON BOOKS #3

Hey guys so today I decided to base my Looks On Books meme on the amazing novel Hollow pike by James Dawson. I decided to base this look on the EPIC WITCHY book cover check it out:

Summary: Something wicked this way comes...

She thought she’d be safe in the country, but you can’t escape your own nightmares, and Lis London dreams repeatedly that someone is trying to kill her. Lis thinks she’s being paranoid - after all who would want to murder her? She doesn’t believe in the local legends of witchcraft. She doesn’t believe that anything bad will really happen to her. You never do, do you? Not until you’re alone in the woods, after dark - and a twig snaps... Hollow Pike - where witchcraft never sleeps

If you notice there are these awesome tree branches and birds flying in the background. This is what I wanted my look to be based on. Here we go:

1. Get some purple eyeshadow or cream based facepaint and lightly dab it with a foundation brush across the side of your face. You can put as much on your face as you want but I just decided to put it on half of my face and blend it into my natural colour.

2. Once the purple is how you want it, Place some black eye shadow on your eye and blend that into the purple.

3. Once that is done get a black eyeliner (I would recommend Rimmel London glam eyes) and start to work from the top of your forehead, running lines down the side of your face. DO NOT let the lines be to straight. The lines need to look like branches, so go crazy with them. They do not need to be neat.

4. Once thats done grab yourself some feathered eyelashes. I decided to use these ones because I feel they just suit the book cover so well. I get my eyelashes off ebay because they are cheap and AMAZING quality. If you're doing the same look as me I only put one eyelash on my right eye to blend with the purple.

5. Once thats done add some black lipstick and there you have it! My Hollow Pike by James Dawson Inspired look :).

DR MAKEUP - LOOKS ON BOOKS #2

Hey guys so today I decided to base my Looks On Books meme on the amazing novel Hidden By Marianne Curley. I absolutly love this novel! Angels are my fav. I decided to base this look on the UK book cover check it out:

Summary: For as long as Ebony can remember, she's been sheltered. Confined to her home in a secluded valley, home-schooled by her protective parents, and limited to a small circle of close friends. It's as if she's being hidden. But something is changing in Ebony. Something that can't be concealed. She's growing more beautiful by the day, she's freakishly strong, and then there's the fact that she's glowing.

On one fateful night, Ebony meets Jordan and she's intensely drawn to him. It's as if something explodes inside of her--something that can be seen from the heavens. Ebony still doesn't know that she's a stolen angel, but now that the heavens have found her, they want her back

If you notice there are these awesome white swirls and because the book is about angels I wanted to use feathered eyelashes. Here is my look:

1. Get a Black Liquid eyeliner I would recommend Glam eyes by Rimmel London it is AMAZING.  place some eyeliner on your lower lash line.

2. Then from your lash line flick the eyeliner down your check to make it a
curlying look. Make sure you add the black dot to the end. This is what the swirls on the cover do.

3. Get some feathered eyelashes and glue them onto your eyelids. I used a half blue half black set which match the book cover colours.

4. For your lips get a silver lipstick or if you do not have one get some clear lip gloss place that upon your lips then add some silver or purple eye shadow ontop.

And there you have it. My Looks On Books Hidden by Marianne Curley Book cover inspired look.

DR MAKEUP- Looks On Books #1

Hey Guys! Casey here, So I am here today to talk about a new feature I have come up with to put on the blog. If there are two things I do love in this world its Makeup and Reading. Weird combination? I THINK NOT. I had this idea what If I did a makeup look for every book I have read? (well almost every one). So It may be a weekly thing or monthly thing but I wanted to let you guys know that this is what I am going to do! so here is the first DR MAKEUP book inspired look:

Black City By Elizabeth Richards:

Summary: In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

The reason I chose this look was because I was inspired by the Darklings in this novel. The misunderstood beautiful creatures who strive for blood and freedom.

Check my inspired look for them:

1. Take any pigmented Black eyeshadow and brush along your eyelids with a eyeshadow brush (or your finger)

2. Grab a blending brush and just blend like crazy over your eyelids so you end up looking like you have two black eyes.

3. Add some mascara to your eyelashes then place your eyelashes (with glue on them) ontop of your eyelids. You can use any eyelashes you dont have to use fancy feather ones, but bigger the better.

4. Once thats done get a thick Black eyeliner and run it under your eyes and start to smudge that with your finger or brush.

5. Next get a red liquid eyeliner and gently run the eyeliner brush down your cheeks from your water line  (like you can see in the picture) if you are daring enough you can put the red liquid liner on your waterline to give it that more scary look.

6. Top your lips up with some black lipstick or any colour you want! And there you go my Darkling inspired Makeup look! :)

Black City Review

Book review: With All My Soul By Rachel Vincent

Title: With All My Soul
Author: Rachel Vincent
Summary: What does it mean when your school is voted the most dangerous in America? It's time to kick some hellion butt...
After not really surviving her junior year (does "undead" count as survival?), Kaylee Cavanaugh has vowed to take back her school from the hellions causing all the trouble. She's going to find a way to turn the incarnations of Avarice, Envy and Vanity against one another in order to protect her friends and finish this war, once and forever.

But then she meets Wrath and understands that she's closer to the edge than she's ever been. And when one more person close to her is taken, Kaylee realizes she can't save everyone she loves without risking everything she has....(

Review: *wipes tear* when I first started this series many many years ago I didn't expect to be here now talking about the 7th book in the series and still be in love with it.

I'm here to review with all my soul by Rachel Vincent today and as I write this having JUST finished it I still can't hold my emotions. I don't think I'm ever going to find characters like that again... I'm scared that I wont. I have grown up with these amazing characters Rachel has written and I'm feeling lost already.

Kaylee and the Gang are back. Kaylee realises she can't save everyone she loves without making some powerful sacrifices. Rachel Vincent writing is beyond magical she picks you up throws you through a tunnel filled we love, hate, passion, heart ache and when you come out the other side you're a huge mess of emotions and it's fantastic.

Kaylee and Todd's relationship is stronger and beautiful than ever. I can't explain to your how romantic Rachels writing is when it comes to them. They are just beautiful characters. It must be hard to keep readers interested through 7 novels about the same characters over and over but it seems to come for Rachel. I think this plot is one of my favorites in the series. Just when you think you know where things are going Rachel changes it around and your left standing there with  "WTF" written on your face, its AWESOME

Rachel Vincent is my book god I never ever get sick of her novels and when a new one comes out I get butterflies in my stomach. I now have to say goodbye to characters I've loved so much #especially Nash and Todd# and its so sad :# I hope one day they make a return somehow! Thank you for them Rachel xx I will say this now. If you are in a book store or online and you see my "My sould to take" I promise you if you buy it you will never look back. Its an exceptional series :)

The Edge Of Never Is coming to the UK :O

Hey guys guess what? THE EDGE OF NEVER is coming to the UK!! I have spoken to a lot of people on twitter who have already read it and loved it and we are just gushing! I am so happy! I LOVED IT! Here is the press release from Harper Collins:

"I’m delighted to say that J.A. Redmerski’s smash-hit New Adult novel THE EDGE OF NEVER has finally arrived with us here in the UK, and I would love you to read and review it.
You may have already heard of this title - Redmerski self-published in November last year and it went straight into the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists in the top ten. She was snapped up by her American publisher for a staggering six-figure sum and we published in ebook here on 28th February. Since then we’ve seen huge leaps in sales and it’s shooting up the kindle bestseller chart at a fantastic pace.

THE EDGE OF NEVER follows 20-year-old Camryn Bennett as she flees grief and betrayal on America’s open roads and the Greyhound buses. What she finds is 25-year-old wild child Andrew Parrish – a young man living by his own rules who teaches Camryn to let go of convention and give in to her deepest and darkest desires. But Andrew is harbouring his own dark secret, and it might just tear their fragile new love apart.
With all the brooding, forbidden love of Twilight and the passion of Fifty Shades, this is an electrifying, un-put-downable rollercoaster romance for fans of the phenomenally successful Beautiful Disaster, and J.A. Redmerski is a truly exciting new voice in the New Adult genre."

I am over the moon! cannot wait frome everyone else to read it! and There is going to be a sequel! A SEQUEL I TELL YOU! make sure you read this novel guys!

Book News: Hodder & Stoughton to publish American YA phenomenon Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hey guys I have some awesome news here! Check out the press release from Hodder & Stoughton:

Hodder & Stoughton to publish American YA phenomenon Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hodder & Stoughton Assistant Editor Harriet Bourton has snapped up UK rights to ten titles by

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout. There are seven titles in the young adult paranormal Covenant series, a contemporary paranormal standalone,

Cursed, plus two mystery thrillers written by the author.

The Covenant novels and Cursed will be published first in eBook on 25th April, and the first mystery thriller, Don’t Look Back, will publish in April 2014 in print and digital formats.
The Covenant series is published by Spencer Hill Press in the US and Jennifer is currently
their number one bestselling author across the board, writing across multiple genres

including paranormal contemporary romance, and makes frequent appearances in the
Kindle top 100 chart.

Assistant Editor Harriet Bourton bought UK rights from Kate McLennan at Abner Stein
Agency on behalf of Taryn Fagerness for the
Covenant series and standalone novel Cursed,
and UK rights for
Don’t Look Back and one untitled mystery thriller from Molly Kong at
Hyperion US.

Bourton said, ‘Jennifer’s writing is so immediately engaging and interesting in whatever
form her storytelling takes, be it a mysterious plot about a girl who wakes up on the roadside
with no memory of who she is, or paranormal worlds – with brilliantly gutsy, spirited
heroines – that are excitingly and convincingly imagined from the first page. I’m so thrilled to
be Jennifer’s UK publisher, and she already has a cast of fans here at Hodder. I know there
will be many more out there yet!

Blog Tour: Unremembered By Jessica Brody

Today I'm hosting a stop on Jessica Brody's blog tour for her phenomenal book 'Unremembered'. Jessica is here to talk about if she was Queen for the day.

Queen for a Day:
I pity the queen that has to take over for me after I’m done with my one-day stint in the palace. I plan to wreck havoc in the royal residence. Although there are MANY things I would like to do if I were queen for a day, here are the top 5:

1. Adopt all the doggies that don’t have homes and move them into the castle. Hey, it’s a big castle. We have plenty of room. And I’ll hire a few people to take care of them so it doesn’t get too...er...messy.
2. Hold the biggest afternoon tea celebration the country has ever seen (I’m a huge fan of traditional British afternoon tea) and invite all the hottie British actors to attend, including (but certainly not limited to): Hugh Grant, Jonathan Rhys Meyer, Colin Firth, Jeremy Irvine, Andrew Lincoln, and Edward Cullen (er, I mean, Robert Pattinson).
3. Get a serious celebrity-style make-over (preferably before attending #2)
4. Put on a private Spice Girls concert in my living room.
5. Marry Prince William (after making him divorce Kate) so I can be queen forever! Haha!

Thanks Jessica!

Hidden by Marianne Curley blog tour: Characters of Hidden

Hey guys so today I have  on the blog talking about her amazing characters from her novel Hidden. It is one amazing novel and my review is HERE so check it out!

Tell us how you came up with the characters for Hidden:

Once I knew I was going to write a story where two of my main characters were angels, as I always do at this early stage, I began researching. But back then I had no conception of just how huge the topic of angelology was, or how popular. Undaunted by the mass amount of information available on the Internet and in books (because I was really excited with my new story idea) I started reading up on how angels are viewed by the various religions of the world. It was a mountain of reading. It was more than I could read all day at my computer screen, so I printed stacks of documents and took the printouts to bed to read, night after night.

It wasn’t long before I started to build a vision of my angels, where they would live, how they would communicate, what they would sound like if and when they spoke, their appearance, height, eyes, all those sorts of thing. One important decision was whether or not they would have wings, and if they did what type. I had to figure out size, shape, colour, why they would be that size, shape and colour, and how I could make these stunning winged creatures look human. Then I gave them names and they became so much more real. Nathaneal’s came to me easily. Just as I needed it, it appeared in my thoughts, and it sounded perfect for the beautiful character I had now formed in my mind. The other angels – Michael, golden and stately came next, then Jezelle with her stunning looks - hair that made men weak at the knees and eyes that could devour you.

Ebony’s character came to me while I was brushing my teeth. The scene played like a movie inside my head. I imagined her as an ordinary human girl, her thick auburn hair flowing past her waist while she stared into her bedroom mirror, feeling different, wondering about her unusual violet-coloured eyes, wondering at the strange changes occurring to her body. I felt her burning need to discover her true identity, and to find the source for the sense of inner disquiet she has always felt. The name “Ebony”, meaning a deep lustrous black colour, seemed appropriate. The opposite to white, it was a name her abductors would insist she be called to help keep her identity hidden.

I knew what I wanted in Jordan before I visualised what he looked like. He would be a tortured soul. From the story outline I had put together I knew the boy character would have no Guardian Angel, and therefore his life would be one sad misadventure after another, a lifetime of bad luck. His appearance would have to reflect this, so I visualised his eyes first – dark blue, with deep-seated inner sadness.

Thank you Marianne. Hidden is now avalible in the UK, in leading book stores and online! GO GET IT! :)

Tide By Daniela Sacerdoti Blog Tour: Sarahs Places

Today on the blog I have Daniela taking over to tell us about the locations mentioned in her novels and why she used them. Dreams was a lovely book and now the sequel Tide is out in the UK at the end of the month HOW EXCITING!

Sarah’s Places

Sarah’s adventure starts in Edinburgh, a city that I personally adore. Edinburgh is dark, mysterious, beautiful and, as somebody once said, ‘dreamt up by either a poet or a serial killer’. It’s just the perfect place for a story of demons and secrets. It was also important for me to set the novel somewhere I know and love, to give it strong emotional roots.
The story branches into Europe and the rest of the world as we follow the surviving Secret heirs’ adventures. Elodie Brun, Harry’s widow, is sent to a small village in the Italian mountains, Castlemonte (“Mountain Castle”), heavily based on my own home village of Caravino. Niall Flynn, Irish heir, and Mike Prudhomme are sent to Mike’s home on Grand Isle, Louisiana. I chose Louisiana because I’ve been fascinated by its music connections for a long time. In Dreams I describe a Louisiana/Irish evening of music with Niall and his fiddle taking the stage. I just had to get it in there!

The second book, Tide, starts in Glasgow, in the John Lewis cafĂ© on Buchanan Street. I mention various places that are local to me – the Royal Concert Hall, Buchanan Street, Sauchiehall Street – which helped me visualize the scene and gave it personal resonance. The action then moves to Islay, a little island in the Hebrides (on the West Coast of Scotland). I’ve never been to Islay, so I had to do quite a bit of research to begin with – however, I soon decided I would portray Islay not as it really is, but as more of a dream place where Midnight Hall stands lonely and isolated. It was an amazing experience, as a writer, to be able to spend a few months in such a beautiful place, although only in my head! Now that Tide is finished, I’ll miss the location immensely.
The third and last book, Spirit, moves to Eastern Europe as Sarah and her friends continue their demon-slaying quest.
