Book Review: Graffiti Moon By Cathy Crowley

Name: Graffiti Moon
Author: Cath Crowley
UK Publisher: Hatchette (Hodder)
UK Release Date: 5th July
Summary: It’s the end of Year 12. Lucy’s looking for Shadow, the graffiti artist everyone talks about. His work is all over the city, but he is nowhere. Ed, the last guy she wants to see at the moment, says he knows where to find him. He takes Lucy on an all-night search to places where Shadow’s thoughts about heartbreak and escape echo around the city walls. But the one thing Lucy can’t see is the one thing that’s right before her eyes

Review: Wow. I'm actually speechless after reading this novel. Lately I've really gotten Into contemporary romances and this is one of my favorites of 2012

I Love that this story is set in Australia i haven't read many YA set there so it was really refreshing. One thing I can't miss out is how much art and art interruption was present in this accomplished book! The way Cathy describes art is so atmospheric and you can literally close your eyes and it's like your swimming in a warm sea of words.
The plot is so original  graffiti and romance put together in a beautiful tremendous package. I would never have thought of putting those two together but Cathy Crowley has done is spectacularly. To fall in love with someone just by looking at their art work before seeing them in person is such an intense story.

Like I said before love the amount of art used in this novel. I've never had a book make me go to Google so much and do my research on the art that was mentioned!  I also loved the amount of beautiful poetry that was used I Loved between each chapter theres a poem from Leo aka poet it brings a nice touch.

Il say that the characters were so likeable. If you enjoy funny, sexy, mysterious characters you can relate to then this is a book for you. I loved Lucy and Ed aka Shadows relationship so much that their one of my favorite YA couples of all time!  One thing I've come away with in this novel is next time I pass graffiti on the wall I am not just going to look at it....I'm really going to LOOK at it.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched ...but in this book you can defiantly feel it in your heart.

Read this book guys! 5 stars!

Review:

Where do I start?

All I can say is this book is amazing.
I bet you've read a million reviews where the reviewer says this book is like nothing they've ever read before.
Well with 'Fated' that is honestly how I felt.
For those of you that have been reading Dark-Readers for a while you'll know I'm a huge fan of Alyson Noel.
I truly loved 'The Immortals' series and I was so sad when it ended,I felt kind of lost without Ever and Damen.

Luckily, for me Alyson mentioned her new project 'The Soul Seekers'- 'Fated' is the first in the series and after only a few pages I'm well and truly hooked.
I don't know if I want to admit this but I think Dace and Daire are rivalling Ever and Damen in a huge way.
I love the bad boy in Damen but Dace is mysterious yet warm, caring and in some ways shy and naïve.
Daire is witty and strong- the kind of girl we all wish to be.
Yet, she's only just sweet sixteen.
Daire being sixteen has a lot to do with the novel and the events that happen.

What I loved about this novel is the relationship between Daire and Paloma.
Their relationship started really frosty but the more Daire got to know her grandmother the more she became attached to her.
She wasn't used to it, all she'd known was being on the road with her mum until the strange images started.
I also loved the relationship between Daire and Sochee (Xotchi) they have the most unlikely friendship yet the minute Xotchi appears I instantly loved her.
I'm not going to lie I've been a bit creeped out by crows since reading this novel.
There are so many interesting twists and on the edge of your seat moments.
When Dace and Daire 'officially' meet the novel's pace seems to quicken.
It's fun, exciting, sexual and in some places a little terrifying.
Like many Ya novels there is an impending love triangle, in this case it's even more intense as it's the good and evil twin brothers.
The minute I met Cade I disliked him but Dace I am completely entranced by and the sexual tension is agonising for the reader. I've warned you this book will frustrate you but it is so far the best thing I have read this year.

If you're looking for a new series to get stuck into 'The Soul Seekers' is out of this world, I'm so on edge for the next book it's untrue.
The unanswered questions about 'The Echo' has me on tender hooks.
I'm ready for more now the wait is going to kill me.
Now it's time for me to read something new otherwise I'll be depressed by the wait for the next instalment.

Book Review: Pushing The Limits By Katie Mcgarry

Name: Pushing The Limits
Author: Katie McGarry
UK  Publisher: Mira Ink
UK Release date: 3rd August
UK Cover Not revealed yet
Summary: No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everthing to go back to normal

Review: So I was told about this book at a Mira ink blogger event and I fell in love with the plot It sounded like it could be as good as Pefect Chemistry by Simone  Elkeles. A trouble lost girl who falls for a bad boy is always a good love story and I knew I was going to love this novel and I did.
Beautiful, edgy, romantic, unusual and unflinching are just some of the words I used to describe this novel

Sexual tension used in this book was tremendous!  You're kept on edge through out wondering what has really happens to Echo. I think the names in this book is soaring! Echo, Noah an Aires. Such unusual names and so original I think their probably one of my favorite names used in YA.
Also loved how your kept wondering through out with the character Echo your literally finding sad and haunting things as soon as she does so I think Kate has written it cleverly in that way and it's really refreshing.

Greek mythology was used in this book and I thought it brought a nice touch to the story I feel it made the story more romantic in a way.
Usually I  like reading from the girls point of view obviously because you can relate to them more but unexpectedly I enjoyed the guy Noah's point of view more than anything I think Kate has written him in such a way that has you swooning and routing for his and Echo's relationship.
I think this story is a lovely new take of what it means to love someone, first loves, first experiences and just things that teenagers go through in their day to day lives so I think the story was very relatable!

I mean one thing that I had a little issue with was (minor spoiler) that there was all this sexual tension and it was built up so much and I was expecting some sort of epic Climax (no pun intended) some sort of love scene. And you guys yes I know this is YA and it is not all about sex but honestly this book had a theme of sex running through. Reading all this tension built up to not have a crescendo was kinda frustrating for me. It was like walking up a mountain getting half way to the top and then going back down again without getting to the top. But all in all it was a beautiful love story that I defiantly recommend!

The Hunger Games:: Movie Review

The up and coming book to movie franchise that has been sweeping the nation; one that appeals to both the female and male population has finally made its way into our theaters! Here is my take on The Hunger Games first film adaptation of Suzanne Collins three book series:

Ever get the feeling when you are sitting in the theater, that no matter how much you know the storyline and the outcome of the movie because you've read the book, you find yourself a nervous wreck, a ball of emotion, because you are suddenly inside that characters perspective, to the point you question the next step in the storyline? Everything else is out the window, forget what you knew the outcome to be (even if it is exactly the same as the book) it doesn't matter, your emotional ties and instincts will overrule.

Katniss Everdeen and her family live in District 12; which is one of twelve Districts of Panem. Right away the audience gets a sense of the life in this District; poverty stricken, hard workers, minors. This is quickly in comparison with life in the Capitol; huge sturdy buildings, people overly dressed to make a statement, not having food is not in question. In the book, Suzanne Collins is detailed about the difference between each District and the Capitol- although we do not get a chance to see every district come to life, I believe director Gary Ross did a fantastic job at portraying the dramatic differences between life in District 12 and the Capitol.

Katniss finds the Mocking Jay pin while trading in goods, this is a major difference from the book. One that I wasn't fond of, until I saw Prim hand Katniss back the pin. I believed it tied her to the storyline more, making winning for Prim that much more a goal. Although I am still interested to see how the this will tie in later from the events that happen in the later books

The audience is seeing this story through several viewpoints... as an outsider for the most part. We get to follow Katniss' journey right along with her, but still able to see the reactions of the people able her to the events that are occurring. Once in the area, we are more "becoming" Katniss! The audience gets a sense of how Katniss feels; after the Tracker Jackers I loved the part where it shows the hallucinations. That is exactly how the book described Katniss feeling after being stung and we got the chance to see how she would see the arena.

We also get to see the game makers in action. Which isn't in the book- their changes are but only through Katniss' point of view and understanding. I liked this change- sets up the story well. And it also gives insight into Katniss trying to figure out "the game plan"

Main Characters::
Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen- Jennifer nailed the role! As someone who was skeptical from the beginning about 21 yo being able to portray a 16 year old, I couldn't have been more blown away her performance. Her emotions were our emotions! Burns- I've never felt so much pain in my life! The shaking, the tears, the lip biting... she didn't have to utter a word for anyone to know how much pain she was in. It was all so real.

Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark-- I loved the emotions he showed and lack there of during the reaping ceremony, the way Peeta knew how to "wow the crowd' with his charm at the Capitol, Josh did just that!

Liam Hemsworth as Gale- We don't get to see much of Gale in the first book. But right as he came on screen I cringed a little- he just isn't "Gale" to me, he looked too modelesque to be in District 12. The chemistry was how I thought it would be- they are nervous about the Reaping so they keep the conversations short, but the care and compassion for each other as friends is there.

Willow Shields as Primrose Everdeen, Katniss' sister who gets called at the reaping. WOW! just wow! If there was one actor I could pick out of this entire movie, who really stood out to me, it'd be Willow. She didn't have a prominent role, but one that left a lasting impression.  Once Prim's name was called, there was nothing but void, as she slowly made her way down the aisle. As Katniss darts to her to say she wants to volunteer, the emotions are everywhere. I think its one of those situations where you as yourself, would I do the same? And throughout the entire movie, Katniss is always going back to Prim. She is fighting for her sister! She has a motherly instinct over her Prim which led to her protection over Rue. I was very happy with the way Rue's death was filmed. Then there was the flash scene to the District 11 revolting against the Capitol, which sets up for the next movie.

Chemistry:
The brother/ sister chemistry I felt between Katniss and Peeta, worked well for this film! Katniss was never positive of her feelings for Peeta, she couldn't commit to them because in her mind she playing a game. She would do whatever she needed to survive. So there was skepticism written all over Jennifer's face at times, and then it would click that Katniss needs to pick up the flirting to get what they need to win the games. It was always about survival for her, even if there was some deep underlying love- survival was first, and THAT was evident throughout the film!

The chemistry between Katniss and Cinna I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to write about! I admire both of these characters; Cinna makes Katniss a stronger person- gives her the confidence she needs, she already has the knowledge and strength, she just needed the encouragement.Lenny Kravitz wasn't who I pictured as Cinna, I expected someone a little more "out there" and crazy and chipper, but the chemistry between these two overruled any thoughts I had about how I originally perceived Cinna.
---------------------

A big negative, which could ultimately make or break the movie for some was the camera work. Seeing The Hunger Games in IMAX, I would not do it again, unless maybe taking some Dramamine before going. In the beginning of the movie we are shown District 12 through a person's eyes; therefore, it almost looks like a home video- very unstable. I loved the concept of this and I think it could've turned out awesome, it was just poorly done. During "The Games" as all the Tributes are on their stands, as they take off towards the cornucopia once the buzzer goes off, the camera pans to one tribute running... then back to another few tributes fighting, then pans back to that first person. It was very difficult to tell what was going on. I'm not a movie expert but to me if they panned to one person, and cut to the next, we would've had the same effect and actually been able to see who was fighting who.

Overall, despite having to get past the awful camera work... I loved this film! The book to movie adaptation was great! I was floored by the detail that was taken into consideration. The screenwriter for The Hunger Games, I want to thank because even though there are a few parts that I noticed were different and aren't in the movie, I haven't really been able to come up with any lines or scenes that I truly wish were included. Yes, there were differences from the book to the movie- like all book to movie adaptations- but the story stayed true! The emotions that I had while watching the film were the same that I had while reading The Hunger Games for the very first time... and getting those reactions from a fan is what truly counts!

** A great post with all the differences.. THG book to movie differences

Review: Slide by Jill Hathaway

Title: Slide
Author: Jill Hathaway
Publisher: Baltzer & Bray- Harper Collins
US publication date: March 27, 2012
UK publication date: OUT NOW!

Summary:  Vee Bell is certain of one irrefutable truth—her sister’s friend Sophie didn’t kill herself. She was murdered.

Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn’t actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else’s mind and experiences the world through that person’s eyes. She’s slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed “friend” when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie’s slashed body.

Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting off lately, more distant, especially now that she’s been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again

Review: My first thought was, WOW! what a cool idea for a book. Its fresh and young. I loved the idea of a person being able to "slide" into the mind of someone else, and view events from their perspective. The summary caught my attention right away and I knew I had to get my hands on this book!

Sylvia has the ability to slide in someone else's mind whenever she touches something that they've touched. What most people would think is a sickness or push Vee away and not believe her, she is able to use this somewhat debilitating condition and make it useful.

What I loved most about this book was the intensity build up of the plot and the fact that we were still trying to figure out who and what right down to the last pages. I was literally on the edge of my seat at certain sections of this book because I couldn't tell where the book was headed. And that's not a bad thing. I enjoyed the surprises.

Author Jill Hathaway knows how to write suspense-- that, is a given!

The thing that made me cringe was the cattiness and "high school" drama that was brought out. I know I know, its a Young Adult book so that's pretty much expected. I guess the attitude of some of the characters was just not appealing to me, and I wish I could've connected with the characters on a different level. And I'm sure that's what Jill was going for, I mean we can't like every character in the books can we?

This also goes for Vee, she's hiding so much that the reader doesn't actually get a sense of who Vee really is until later on in the book. In a way I felt sorry for her- because as a reader I knew why she couldn't tell anyone about her "gift" of sliding. So all in all, I just wanted to jump in and give her a hug really haha and I wanted to know more about her characteristics & personality that is hidden under her secret.

Overall, I think that Jill Hathaway has created a brilliantly structured book with a strong plot and new storyline; some will connect with the characters and some not as much. But there is still something in this book for everyone- who doesn't like a good mysterious plot!

Book Review: Witchstruck By Victoria Lamb

Name: Witchstruck
Author: Victoria Lamb
Publisher: Random House
Release date: July 2012

Summary: Meg Lytton has always known of her dark and powerful gift. Raised a student of the old magick by her Aunt Jane, casting the circle to see visions of the future and concocting spells from herbs and bones has always been as natural to Meg as breathing. But there has never been a more dangerous time to practise the craft, for it is 1554, and the sentence for any woman branded a witch is hanging, or burning at the stake.

Sent to the ruined, isolated palace of Woodstock to serve the disgraced Elizabeth, daughter of Henry VIII and half-sister of Queen Mary, Meg discovers her skills are of interest to the outcast princess, who is desperate to know if she will ever claim the throne. But Meg's existence becomes more dangerous every day, with the constant threat of exposure by the ruthless witchfinder Marcus Dent, and the arrival of a young Spanish priest, Alejandro de Castillo, to whom Meg is irresistibly drawn - despite their very different attitudes to her secret.
Thrilling and fast-paced, this is the first unputdownable story in a bewitching new series.

Review:

On hearing the summary of this novel it immediately had me desperate for a copy.

I have always truly loved the Tudors-dating back to my school days I really enjoyed studying it.
So for a series to be based on that time I was in awe.
The imagery and description of 'Witchstruck' has you on the edge of your seat.
It made me feel like a Tudor girl, minus the corset.
It's also made me long for a beautiful dress, that would be so tight I'd hardly breathe.
In meeting Meg I instantly loved her.
She's loveable, yet naïve and she also does the best she can for those she cares about.
The tension between Meg and witchfinder Marcus Dent is intense and hauntingly terrifying.
He's a horrible excuse of a man and poor Meg suffers so much at his hands.
Bereavement, betrayal, near-death and abuse are just a few things she suffers thanks to Dent.
At the beginning I thought Princess Elizabeth was a bit stuck-up.
But as the story went on the bond between her and Meg intensified.
Then as a reader I started feeling differently about her.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat.
I nearly missed my stop on the bus and could've overdone my lunch break.
You'd be hooked and eager to find out what was next.
The tension between Meg and the young Spanish priest, Alejandro was intense, confusing and lustful.
The sexual tension between the pair is apparent from their very first encounter.
What I truly loved about 'Witchstruck' was how intense and compelling it was.

Such an awesome way to start a thrilling new series, I am eager for more.

Blog Tour: The Things We Did For Love By Natasha Farrant, review and a post written by a major character.

Hello, Today see's 'The Things We Did For Love' blog tour taking a pit stop at Dark Readers.
I really enjoyed this novel it's one of a kind and I was overjoyed to see we were added to the tour.

Firstly, i'd like to take a few moments to mention 'The Things We Did For Love writing competition which launched on THE Spark at the beginning of the tour. The link to the competition is  http://www.facebook.com/thesparkpage?sk=app_128953167177144. Anyone who enters has the chance of winning an ipad or the runner up prize of an e-reader. So what are you waiting for.

Name: The Things We Did For Love

Author: Natasha Farrant
UK Publishers: Faber
UK Release Date:

Summary: France: February, 1944.
As war rages in Europe, teenagers Luc and Arianne fall passionately in love. But German forces are closing in and Luc, desperate to atone for his family's past, is drawn into the dangerous world of the Resistance. Arianne will do almost anything to keep him safe, but someone else is secretly in love with her - someone who will stop at nothing to get rid of his rival...

Review: I'm not usually one for wartime based novels but 'The Things We Did For Love' has completely changed my opinion.
My grandparents survived the war and at school I was always interested in this time. My grandad was an evacuee, he was sent off to the countryside where he would be safe.
He even wrote about his experiences for us to take to school, it was really interesting to read and obviously for me it was really emotional as it's about my grandad.
It was clearly a difficult time to be separated from his family but he was safe. Through out the book I often wondered if I'd have been as strong as Arianne, if I'd have been alive in the 1940s.
At such a young age she's acting like a young woman. In reading this novel you're taken on a rollercoaster ride through many emotions. As a reader you can feel her pain, joy, passion and sadness. This is Natasha Farrant's first YA novel and it centres around the love story of Arianne and Luc.
I love that some of the novel is past and some present by the mysterious person telling us the story. (I didn't expect it to be who it is. I shant spoil for you.)
The imagery is so vivid it makes me feel like I'm actually in the novel, feeling the rollercoaster of emotions that Arianne, Luc, Romy, Solange and Teresa Belleville are feeling.
I immediately loved Arianne although the poor girl can be so naïve, she's just too kind.
Arianne and Luc are the perfect couple but is there really a perfect love and a perfect life?
What I loved about this novel was how real it is.
Natasha doesn't shy away from the brutality of war and how it changes people.
Some for the better some worse.
Luc is your ideal leading man but I'm not completely bowled over with love for him.
However, Luc and Arianne's love is very passionate and fiesty.
There are strong messages of love, passion, jealousy and betrayal within this novel.
As always there is an impending love triangle which results to a huge betrayal.
I also enjoyed Natasha's foreword at the end explaining just how much research went into explaining how life really was back in the 1940s.
I would definitely recommend this wartime based love story.

This is Natasha's debut novel and I for one cannot wait to see what she does next.

Now for the lovely post from one of my fave characters in this novel Solange...

THE DAY THEY CROSSED THE LINE

When the German army defeated the French in 1940, France was cut in half. The North and coasts fell under German control. This was the Occupied Zone. The South was administered by a puppet government, French in name, and was the Free Zone. Following Allied landings in North Africa on November 8th, 1942, the German army crossed the demarcation line between the two zones and the whole of France was occupied.

They came on Armistice Day. November 11th, the day the treaty was signed at Versailles to end the last war.

November 11th 1918: the Great War ended.

November 11th 1942: our war began.

When France was two countries we hardly ever saw any Germans. We heard a lot of stories, of course. For a start the village was twice the size it had been before the war. We had refugees from all over – from the borders, Alsace and Lorraine, which the Germans always claimed were theirs, from Paris, from the North. They all told the same tales of how they had walked for days, pushing everything they could take into prams and wheelbarrows, while German planes – Stukas – machine-gunned them from the sky. We heard that people were taken away in the night and never seen again, that people were shot and tortured and hung and that they were starving, but to be honest it didn’t really register, not with me. I mean, you can’t understand what hungry means until you’ve been without yourself, right? And until November 11th 1942, we never really went without. So between June 1940, when France was cut in two by the victorious Germans, and November 1942 when they decided they’d rather have the whole country, thank you very much, I just got on with doing what every girl my age does. I went to school. I played with my friends. I grew boobs and got my period, I kissed boys for a dare.

And then the Allies landed in North Africa. And three days later the Germans arrived.

There were so many of them, and they were so - perfect. They rolled into town in their armoured trucks, down the main street and over the tramlines, with their smart grey uniforms and their gleaming boots and their neat blond hair, a horrible band playing their horrible martial music. We ran out into the streets. We couldn’t help it. Papa said we should stay indoors. He said, “Solange, you must not dignify their arrival with your presence,” but I told him that good or bad, it was a historic occasion, right? And there’s something about a parade. It doesn’t feel quite real, and however horrible the music, it gets to you, I mean you start tapping your foot, and the kids run around trying to get a better look, and even though the grown-ups all look like they’re at a funeral it’s difficult not to notice how good-looking some of the soldiers are. Until they park their tanks in front of the mairie, that is, and their leader gets out surrounded by his flunkeys, and Mayor Jarvis is all stiff and has to salute even though he’s shaking so hard he can hardly raise his hand, and they make him go inside and take down the French flag.

That’s when you realise. All your life you’ve been a part of something you’ve taken completely for granted. “Oh yeah,” you think. “France. That used to be my country.” And even though I’d never thought about it like that, when they took down that flag, I cried.

On the 11 November 1942, the swastika flew over the town hall, and it stayed there until it burned down along with the rest of the village on 10 June 1944.

I swear when I saw that black and red flag flying over the mairie, I knew they would get us in the end. Even though we didn’t see them for another year and a half, even though they left us alone. And I was right, wasn’t I? They did get us.

Don’t think I died easily. I wasn’t brave. I was scared the first time they came. But when they came back, I was bloody terrified.

Just a little about me- Hayley my book inspiration...

Hello,
I thought it was about time I started to reveal the girl behind the book reviews, as I haven't posted many non-review posts. So, here I am.

I've always been an avid reader since a young age, I remember seeing Father Christmas in Allders, and being given a present which turned out to be a copy of 'The Railway Children'.
My sister wasn't that bothered by the book but I was always eager to expand my knowledge and focus my mind.

I remember loving Enid Blyton's novels and last christmas I brought my oldest niece Charlie-Ann 'The Magic Faraway Tree' and various other Enid novels.
I haven't had a chance to read them with her yet, but I cannot wait to do so.

When I went to secondary school I didn't have much time for books of my choice, as I had to read stuff for the curriculum.
As you've seen from Casey's post she is a huge lover of Romeo and Juliet, I too enjoyed reading the works of Mr Shakespeare.

During my time at Eltham Hill I also read and loved Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello to name a few.
I studied English right up to A Levels, and during my A Level's I was assigned to read 'Enduring Love' by Ian McEwan.
This novel was so complex yet compelling, I was so fascinated I couldn't wait to continue so I read more after class and more than our scheduled reading.
The imagery and the cleverness had me hooked, not knowing what to think and feel.
I was drawn back into reading and I wanted more and more, having loved the book I wanted to see the film when it came out maybe a year or two after i'd studied it.
The film was good it caught some of the magic of the book but I wasn't as hooked on the screenplay.
I look forward in going back through Ian McEwan's back catalogue at some point I loved the film Atonement but once i've read the book that may change.

I then moved onto many girlie based reads such as Ceceila Ahern- whom! I love, Jenny Colgan and Josie Lloyd and Emlyn Rees.
Liking those sorts of authors meant I didn't have that many new books to read and then I discovered Twilight where my lust for Vampires and the paranormal started.
Now I love and hate series based books, I love that they continue yet I hate that I usually have a wait for the next instalment.
I've just finished Witchstruck By Victoria Lamb my review will be up this week and I am currently in the middle of reading Fated the beginning of my fave author Alyson Noels new series so far I am loving it....

Event Report: The UK Hunger Games Premiere

So as I have just recovered from my awesome, surreal, amazing, tiring two days, I wanted to talk about it to you guys and give you the low down! so here it is; Me and Laura (Sister Spooky)decided to get to the O2 area (where the Premiere was being held) and camp the night. Yes we are crazy BUT when we got there people were already there camping so we had this feeling if we went home and come back we highly doubted we would of got a good spot. So we thought "what the Hell" lets just do it. So it was a cold COLD night but we didn't get any sleep at all but knowing we were going to see the movie and the stars later that night kept our spirits up. Heres Laura from
Sister Spooky being happy LOL
So a lot of people were asking how did you guys see the movie? well basically The Metro Paper were holding a Competition. The first 250 people in the queue for the premiere that have the metro paper that was published that day with the Hunger Games poster showing would get a special wrist band. This wrist band would get you into the VIP pen to meet the stars AND after that walk the red carpet and watch the movie. Now I have never seen so many people running for the metro at the station! it was so funny and a nice girl in the queue was nice enougt to get us Here is the "Golden Ticket" so to say and the wrist bands that were given to 250 of us :)
So through out the day it was a lot of waiting around and shivering. The anticipation was killing us. We drank a lot of hot drinks (thanks to Starbucks for their free coffined day) and we sat and waited and waited and WAITED until we was let into our VIP pen! and it was defiantly VIP. We were near the part where the Cars drive and the celebs get out. This was an awesome View! we  were tweeting through out the day just letting other people know what was happening as it happened. We saw some awesome people dressing up as the characters and wearing the mocking Jay pins with pride!

enough with the jibber jabber lets get to the celebrities shall we? so the first one who turned up was none other that Chris Hemsworth aka THOR!!!! Liam Hemsworths brother. Wow He is absolutly HOT! like I kept staring at him. He looked like a fricken god with the golden locks LOL he didnt come over to us unfortunalty he kind of went straight to the paparazzi which was annoying but He wasnt the one I REALLY wanted to see, so we waited,,,and waited... UNTIL a silver car pulled up this Josh Hutcherson walked out... and the screaming went wild I couldnt hear myself think...probably because I was screaming too! HA!
Josh was so nice! I didn't realize how little he was lol but wow what a sweet guy! one of the girls there who made friends with told him he had an amazing jaw and he said thank you in a very awkward way but It was funny. He was getting closer to me and Laura (sister spooky) and we asked for pictures with him as well as signing our books and he was so nice and said yes. As Laura took the picture of me and him I really just wanted to turn my head and lick his cheek LOL yes IM creepy
So next while everyone was screaming for Josh and while he was being pulled from pillar to post me and Laura were waiting patently for the next hotty to arrive and boy did he. Liam Hemsworth stood out of the car was a very sexy suit smiling at the crowd. He took the PR ladies Sharpie and headed straight to us. With His sexy accent he thanked us all and asked how long we had been there! We told him and he said wow and took pictures with us! my Picture was a bit fuzzy but hey its still a picture LOL
Next was Jennifer Lawrence OMG she looked amazing in her gold gown and as soon as she got out the car she smiled and waved straight at the fans in our pen! she took of her coat and I could tell she was freezing! it was so cold that day and we even had jackets on so I couldn't imagine how she felt. But yet she came over to us and signed all out books etc. She didn't take any photos with us because there was LOADS of security around her and she was so cold so I understood why. But she was so nice and smiled for everyone. What a lovely girl indeed.
so after the last cast member who was Elizabeth Banks who plays Effie left, it was now time to go watch the movie. We were let out of our pen and onto the red carpet. It was manic. Liam Hemsworth was still on the carpet as we walked past. People were screaming so loud! I had to hold onto Lauras hand as we walked down. As soon as I went up the escalators I realized then and there that we were about to watch the movie...we got given our tickets and sat down in our seats. We were waiting for the movie to start but them the movies producer came in and we were like "WHAT" then behind her Liam, Josh and Jennifer walked in behind her. The whole place screamed to death. and as they walked in everyone in the cinema stood up and we did the three finger salute. Then the cast did it back to us. It was very emotional as I realized there and then we probably wont have the opportunity to ever do that again and as the cast left the movie started...................

p.s The Movie was so amazing that I cant really put it into words. Jennifer is an amazing Actress and I think she was perfect for Katniss. These movies are about to be even bigger and I am proud to say that I was one of the first 250 people in the world to watch it. and make sure you visit Laura at Sisterspooky blog and read her version of events :) also check out my Hunger Games Capitol Make-up designs!! Book Review: Struck By Jennifer Bosworth And Exclusive Book Trailer Stills

Name: Struck
Author: Jennifer Bosworth
UK Publishers: Random House (Doubleday)
UK Release Date: May 2012
Summary: (Summary In Review)

Review: So as soon as I opened this book I knew I was going to love it! The cover and the awesome words used by the awesome ladies at random house to describe this book made me so anxious to read it! And I am glad I did!

A girl that loves the feeling of being "Struck" by lightning? Who comes up with this awesomeness? Jennifer Bosworth that is who! So original! So exciting so climactic and just beyond incredible!
Mia the bad ass girl who has a connection to the storm that caused the earthquake that devastated L.A., and she doesn't know why.... two warning cults rise to power and both claim to have the answers that Mia is seeking. The alluring sexy Jeremy warns her away from them, but what is he hiding? soon, Mia discovers that she is part of a devastating power.... can she save the world?.... or destroy it?
I love when the girls the super hero! that everything depends on her. Jennifer has written this book in such a way that makes you proud to be a women. As soon as I opened the book I was sucked into it! Fast paced from the beginning which I loved! on edge from the very first page. One of my favorite things about this novel was the fact is was set in three days... that must be a hard thing to write but Jennifer has done it so well 373 pages of pure faultlessness!

I think its descriptive and effective. Jennifer has created word images so vivid that it is almost like watching a movie. She takes you for a romp through wrecked LA and you find yourself  in an action packed suspenseful event with the followers and seekers, that had my heart facing and had me excited from beginning to end.

Let's talk about the immense characters who were not at all two dimensional! they jumped out at you through the page especially Jeremy! with his Piercing blue eyes. Jennifer has written him so seductively that you cant help but get excited when hes in a scene. Then there is the badass loyal chick Katrina who is sneaky but you cant help but love her. And of course there is the lead the astonishing addictive character Jennifer has written perfectly which is Mia.

So I suggest you guys pick up this book in May because if your a fan of The Hunger Games or even the TV show Misfits then this is a spectacular book for you!
Do you have the Spark? Follower or a Seeker YOU decide!
